Meeting critical training and performance needs of the Manufacturing Industry:

Advancing technology and cost-reducing measures result in employers continuously changing the skills profile of their manufacturing/skilled trades staff. These developments require organizations to place greater emphasis on education, training, and very specific workforce development solutions. We focus on working with professionals from the manufacturing industry to identify and assess employee development needs and to provide innovative solutions to enhance employee and organizational performance.

Training programs available through the BCI focus on the highly-specialized skills needed by today's manufacturing workers. Utilizing the latest occupational research and industry trends as well as a network of faculty and highly qualified consultants and training specialists, BCI provides both standard and customized performance improvement solutions that focus on the highly-specialized skills currently needed by manufacturing workers. These skills include not only the ability to run machines and equipment, but also business and leadership skills, as well as an aptitude for computers, problem-solving and critical thinking.

Workers must be able to coach and motivate others and resolve conflicts. New hires, in particular, require training on advanced technologies, global manufacturing systems, lean production, and manufacturing health and safety. BCI offers training in these areas and more.

Services are delivered on-site, online, or on campus. The Lansing Community College West Campus is home to a Haas machine shop, Lincoln Electric welding lab, electrical and HVAC labs, automotive repair, and auto body labs.
