LCC/JC Constitution Day Takes on Voting Rights

Voting Rights is the topic of a panel discussion sponsored by Lansing Community College and Jackson College on Monday, Sept. 9 at 12:15 p.m. in the LCC Board Room, Administration Building, 610 N. Capitol Ave., Lansing.

The event is part of upcoming U.S. Constitution Day activities, which are observed by colleges and universities across the nation.

The panel will include Matt Davis, former Michigan Republican Party spokesperson; Mark Brewer, former Michigan Democratic Party Chair; Barb Byrum, Ingham County Clerk; and Sally Wallace American Civil Liberties Board member.

The discussion will be moderated by Rick Pluta, Michigan Public Radio reporter.

The discussion will focus on the implementation of a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling on the federal Voting Rights Act and recent state efforts to change voter laws.

Students, faculty and community members are encouraged to attend.
