Microsoft Dreamspark for Academics
The Computer Information Technologies program pays an annual fee for membership in the Microsoft Dreamspark for Academics subscription program. The program is sponsored by Microsoft through its Microsoft Developer's Network (MSDN).
One of the nice features of the Microsoft Dreamspark for Academics program is the ability of students who are enrolled in Computer Information Technologies (most courses with a CIT prefix) courses to obtain software for their home computers at little or no cost. Under the Microsoft Dreamspark for Academics program, students are permitted to continue using the software after the class ends. The software which the Computer and Information Technologies Program has chosen to make available to its students includes the following:

The procedure for obtaining this software is described below.
Students currently enrolled in an Computer Information Technologies Department course will be registered by their instructor after the third week of the semester (the end of the drop and add period). Your instructor will send a list of the LCC e-mail addresses of students enrolled in their section to the Microsoft Dreamspark for Academics Subscription Administrator. The administrator will enroll the students by entering their LCC e-mail addresses into the Microsoft Dreamspark for Academics Management System. An e-mail containing your username (which is your complete LCC student e-mail address) and password will be sent to your LCC student e-mail address. You use this information to log into the Microsoft Dreamspark for Academics web site to request software.
Several students each semester report that they never receive this e-mail once they are registered. This may be due to e-mail filters which identify the e-mail as spam mail. If you do not receive, delete, or filter as spam the e-mail from e-academy.com containing your username and password information, follow the steps below to generate a second e-mail containing your password.
1) Visit the Dreamspark Storefront in your web browser
2) Click the SIGN IN link near the top of the web page.
3) Click the "here" link located in the Login Help box on the right hand side of the web page.
4) In the Username box, enter your complete LCC student e-mail address.
5) Click the "Go Find It" button.
Once you have received your username and password you can log in and select the software you wish to install on your computer from the Microsoft Dreamspark for Academics Management System web site. This web site has been created by the MSDNAA for LCC. The URL for this web site is: http://e5.onthehub.com/WebStore/ProductsByMajorVersionList.aspx?ws=be7ae627-cb9b-e011-969d-0030487d8897&vsro=8 . You must log into this web site to "purchase" selected software. The login username is your complete LCC student e-mail address. Use the password contained in the e-mail you received from e-academy.
The following delivery options are generally available, although not necessarily for all software.
1) Download the software from the Microsoft Dreamspark for Academics web site.
Downloads are recommended only for students with a high speed Internet connection. Students with laptops can use the LCC libraries high speed Internet connection for downloads. Students can also use computers in TLC 100 (Main campus) or WCB 123 (West campus) to download software and burn it to a CD.
2) Purchase the CD(s) at a nominal cost from a third party (within U.S. only).
Once you have selected a software item, method of delivery and proceeded through the Check Out procedure you will be sent an email with a product key code. This code can also be found my clicking the My Software button and then clicking the invoice number for that product. Clicking the product name will display the product key (or serial number) which is required for installation of the software.
