Summer Stage Under the Stars

Summer Under The Stars

LCC's annual summer festival offers free performing arts events on campus in June and July. Most take place in the beautiful amphitheatre located on Washington Mall between Dart Auditorium and the Gannon Building, with Dart Auditorium as the rain location. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs, a picnic and the family, and join us for a delightful evening under the stars!

June 15-19, 7 p.m.
The Iliad, the Odyssey, and All of Greek Mythology in 99 Minutes or Less
By Jay Hopkins, John Hunter, and Homer, directed by John Lennox.
With the clock ticking in front of everyone's eyes, the cast speeds through all of Greek Mythology. All the silly decisions, the absurd destinies, and the goofy characters are presented lightning-bolt fast with hysterical results as the clock is stopped with only seconds to spare.

June 29, 7 p.m.
The LCC Faculty Jazz Quartet, with LCC Jazz Band Student Combos opening

July 20-24, 7 p.m.
Huck Finn by Eric Coble, adapted from the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, directed by Paige Dunckel.
The great American novel comes to life as Huck Finn flees the claws of "civilization" for the freedom of the mighty Mississippi, only to find himself running from mobs, getting shot at, stealing gold, digging escape tunnels and mastering disguises. And perhaps his greatest adventure: unexpectedly finding his own moral compass in a world of corruption and hypocrisy.

July 26-29, 7 p.m.
DANCE Lansing – Community Dance Project, Dart Auditorium
Four nights of new dance now in its 11th year! The Community Dance Project gives audiences an opportunity to appreciate modern and contemporary dance, and enriches performance and development opportunities for area choreographers and dancers. The collaboration is founded by partners Happendance and LCC Performing Arts and now includes associates Everett High School Dance Program, Fusion Dance Center, Greater Lansing Academy of Dance, MICA Gallery, Michigan State University Department of Theatre, and MSU Orchesis.
