This basic training is designed to help the novice user begin to learn how to:

• Navigate within Desire2Learn.
• Communicate with students using news, calendar, and course email.
• Add content, such as new files, existing files,links, discussions, and dropboxes for assignments.
• Save and copy content from semester-to-semester.

The facilitator will also display a basic Desire2Learn Gradebook. However, due to the complexity of using this feature, participants need to attend the Desire2Learn Beginning Gradebook session to learn how to appropriately use this feature. Basic computer skills are required to participate in this workshop. If you need support in this area, come to the CTE (TLC 324) during open hours, and our service-minded staff will be happy to assist you. This workshop is also strongly recommended for faculty who teach face-to-face and use their Desire2Learn course site(s).

Participants will learn how to set up and use the Desire2Learn’s Grades feature. This training is designed to help novice Desire2Learn users learn the basics of a points-based or weighted grading system in Desire2Learn.

Specifically, participants will learn how to:

• Create categories and grade items.
• Enter student grades and comments.
• Drop the lowest score within a category.
• Display grades and averages to students.
• View, save, and print grades.

The "Introduction to Desire2Learn" CTE workshop and/or experience using Desire2Learn is required. Participants are expected to be able to easily navigate within Desire2Learn without facilitator assistance.

Desire2Learn Calendar, News, and Email are convenient ways to reach your students with important messages. Come to this session to learn how to:

• Create News Items (announcements.)
• View and send email messages within Desire2Learn.
• Display calendar entries, such as due dates and exams.
• Link to content from a news item or calendar entry.

Previous training and/or experience using Desire2Learn is recommended, but not necessary.

If you have an ANGEL site that was converted to Desire2Learn, come to this work session to learn how to organize your content for optimal results. Along with access to a converted course, the "Introduction to Desire2Learn" CTE workshop and/or experience using Desire2Learn is required. Participants are expected to be able to easily navigate within Desire2Learn without facilitator assistance.

In this hands-on session, participants will learn how to create automatically graded online quizzes using Desire2Learn. The basics of online testing, question construction, as well as feedback options, security features, and random question selection will be addressed. The "Introduction to Desire2Learn" CTE workshop and/or experience using Desire2Learn is required. Participants are expected to be able to easily navigate within Desire2Learn without facilitator assistance.

The Desire2Learn Learning Repository is a storage area for sharing content. Instructors can publish content privately, to use between their own courses, or publicly, to share within their departments. Some areas such as the Library and eLearning have content in the repository that can be accessed campus-wide.

Experience using Desire2Learn is required. Participants are expected to be able to easily navigate within Desire2Learn without facilitator assistance.

Respondus is a third party program supported by the college that allows instructors to:

1. Create, edit, and spell check entire tests offline.
2. Upload/download tests, test banks and surveys to/from any Desire2Learn course.
3. Easily import questions from existing text documents.
4. Produce professionally formatted, printed tests, and much more!

Participants will practice installing and setting up Respondus, importing existing tests from documents, and uploading Respondus tests to Desire2Learn. This workshop is most appropriate for the intermediate to advanced user. Previous experience writing Desire2Learn quizzes is strongly recommended.

Come to this session to learn how to save your Desire2Learn content and student records for future access. Participants will learn how to maintain and copy their master course, or previous semester course, and how to back up content and student data. Participants will also learn how to save and transmit their Desire2Learn grade records in accordance with the LCC policies on retention of student grades. Previous training and/or experience using Desire2Learn is recommended.
