Early Learning Children's Community

The summer season in Lansing brings a number of great events to the Riverfront Park on Grand Ave. With these events, there are scheduled road closures on Grand, which changes the flow of traffic into Early LCC. When Grand is closed, there are detour signs moving traffic in a right hand U-Turn from Saginaw onto Schoolcraft. Parents can also drop off and pick up by parking briefly along the Early LCC building sidewalk in Lot D off Capitol. Feel free to call the center for additional directions to the building during road closures for events.

LCC's On-campus Child Care and Early Learning Center

The Early Learning Children's Community (Early LCC) opened in August of 2010. The purpose of this center is twofold: to provide high quality early education and child care for the children of LCC students, staff, and the community; to provide a laboratory placement with children for students in many LCC programs.

Child Care Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers and Preschoolers

The Community's curriculum for infants, toddlers, is based on the Program for Infant Toddler Caregivers. Our preschool program is based on the Reggio Emilia / Project Approach to early childhood education. Our programs are play-based because we believe children learn by doing. The curriculum is carefully designed by LCC's Child Development Program to provide engaging, developmentally appropriate activities that encourage children to be confident, competent learners.

Management Agreement with Local Child Education Center

Gretchen's House (based in Ann Arbor) has been contracted to manage the Children's Community. Gretchen's House manages seven child education centers in Ann Arbor, along with facilities for Michigan Tech University.
