Alumni Award Winner Linda D. Cornish
The Lansing Community College Alumni Association's Distinguished Alumni Award for 2005 has been awarded to Linda Cornish of Lansing. Cornish and her husband own Ro-Lyn Electrical Inc., a Lansing based electrical construction business. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from LCC in 1999 with an associate degree and went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in business administration from Northwood University in 2001.
In 2004, Cornish was elected to the Lansing School Board and serves on the Board's Personnel Committee. She is currently a board member of the M-TEC Advisory Board for LCC, the Phi Beta Sigma Foundation Education Fund and the Youth Development Corporation. She is also a member of the Lansing Business and Professional Women and served as treasurer on both the local and district level.
In 2001, she received the Michigan Minority Business Development Council Recognition Award for Service Excellence. Cornish has also been a volunteer tutor and youth mentor. With her husband and local labor unions, she is developing and implementing an apprenticeship work skills program for students in the Lansing School District.
