Governance

Gartner, one of the world's leading information technology research and advisory companies, defines IT governance as "the processes which ensure the effective and efficient use of IT in enabling an organization to achieve it's goals." ¹ "Effective IT governance is a primary determinate of IS organizational success." ²

The overall objective of IT governance "is to understand the issues and the strategic importance of IT, so that enterprise can sustain operations and implement the strategies required to extend its activities into the future." ³

IT governance at Lansing Community College is facilitated through the following three groups:

  • Information Technology Advisory Council (ITAC)
  • Academic Technology Forum (ATF)
  • System Operations Coordinating Committee (SOCC)
