Technical Preparation provides assistance to states to award grants to consortia of local education agencies and postsecondary education institutions for the development and operation of programs consisting of the last two years of secondary education and at least two years of postsecondary education.
Tech Prep grants fund career and technical preparation programs and foster partnerships among programs designed to provide career and technical education to students that lead to an associate degree or a two-year certificate. The program also is designed to strengthen links between secondary and postsecondary schools (ed.gov/programs/techprep/).
To this end Lansing Community College partners with Clinton County Regional Education Service Agency, Eaton Intermediate School District, Ingham Intermediate School District and the Lansing School District to prepare high school juniors and seniors prepare for the world of postsecondary education and the world of work. Students earn high school Career and Technical Education credits, and at the same time, have the opportunity to earn college credits at LCC.
