Office of Disability Support Services
The mission of ODSS is to support student success by:
* Providing appropriate accommodations and services to eligible individuals
* Helping students take responsibility for their own learning/education and
* Providing supportive services to help students with disabilities overcome
barriers to success.
The College has administrative and faculty specialists, click here for staff contact information, who respond to visual, hearing, mobility, and alternative learning needs. The College adheres to the standards and guidelines set forth in the Americans With Disabilities Act.
To be eligible for services and accommodations through ODSS, students are required to provide written verification of their disability. Documentation must be signed and dated by a qualified professional who has diagnosed the disability. Click here for documentation requirements. If necessary, the ODSS staff can help students find the appropriate professionals to diagnose their disability. Students must have documentation of a disability on file in ODSS offices before services and accommodations for classes can be provided.
Many reasonable accommodations require significant pre-planning, therefore, registration with the Office of Disability Support Services prior to situations requiring accommodations is essential. Requests must be completed well in advance of enrollment as some accommodations may take six weeks or longer to be determined and/or arranged. Lansing Community College will attempt to provide accommodations in a timely manner; however, it is the student's responsibility to request accommodations and provide proper documentation in advance of the semester for which accommodations are requested. Accommodations will not be made retroactively.
This scholarship was created to afford LCC students without funding the opportunity to be evaluated for a learning disability/ADD/ADHD up to the cost of $600.00. Three students may be awarded annually: one fall, one spring and one summer semester. Please review guidelines and application process by clicking here.
