CATA Service Changes For Thanksgiving Holiday

Lansing, MI - In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, the Capital Area Transportation Authority will implement the following service changes:

Wednesday, Nov. 27

All evening MSU campus bus service (Routes 30, 31, 39 & Lot Link) will conclude early at 11:30 p.m. All non-campus CATA routes and services will end at their regular time on Wednesday.

Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28

All CATA services - fixed-route (including Entertainment Express), Spec-Tran, Redi-Ride and Rural Service - will not operate. The CATA Administrative Office will also be closed on Thursday; however, the Spec-Tran Office will take telephone reservations on Thanksgiving Day, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., for rides needed after the Nov. 28 holiday. The Spec-Tran number is (517) 394-CATA (2282).

Friday, Nov. 29

The following reductions or changes in service levels will be implemented:

  • Route 1-Downtown Lansing/Meridian Mall will not operate the five late night Spartan Service trips.  Service will conclude at 11:30 p.m.
  • Route 25-North Harrison will not operate Spartan Service trips.  Buses will run every 60 minutes throughout the day and conclude service at the regular time of 10:15 p.m.
  • Routes 30, 31, 32, 33, 39 and Night Owl will not operate on the MSU campus.
  • Route 26-Abbot/Chandler will operate every 45 minutes throughout the day and evening.  Service will conclude at the regular time of 11:15 p.m. with the last bus departing campus at 10:40 p.m.   Route 26 Friday late night service to the downtown East Lansing area will not operate.
  • Entertainment Express will operate less frequently with service every 30 minutes from 7:30 p.m. until 3:00 a.m.
  • Routes 30, 31, 32, 33, 39 and Night Owl will not operate on the MSU campus.
  • Routes 34, 35, 36 and the Lot Link will follow the weekend timetables with service to MSU's campus starting at 9 a.m.
  • All other CATA routes and services will operate their regular Friday schedules.

Student Semester Parking Card

If you park more than 20 hours a week on campus consider purchasing the Student Semester Parking Card!

  • Prepay for parking for the whole semester

  • Never have to worry if your card will be confiscated for insufficient funds

  • Park any time day or night during the semester in the Gannon Parking Ramp

The Student Semester Parking Card is a card that can be purchased by current students for parking in the Gannon Ramp during the purchased semester. A truly great value for students who are on campus more than 20 hours a week! The Student Semester Parking Card can be purchased at Parking & ID Services on the 2nd floor of Gannon building.

Prices:

Summer Semester: $150.00
Fall Semester: $300.00
Spring Semester: $300.00

  1. The Student Semester Parking Card does not guarantee a parking space in any authorized parking structures (Gannon Parking Ramp).
  2. If a card is lost or stolen, a new card may be purchased for the original price of $300 for Fall or Spring semesters, and $150 for Summer semester, no matter when the original card was lost or stolen. All prices are subject to change by
  3. Damaged cards are subject to a $15 re-issue charge. The damaged card must be surrendered to Parking & ID Services in order to receive the replacement card.
  4. No value can be added to the Student Semester Parking Card.
  5. There are no refunds for the purchase value of the Student Semester Parking Card. The Student Semester Parking Card is non-transferable.Student Semester Parking Card. The Student Semester Parking Card is non-transferable.

  • Attention: You must use your StarCard at ALL times when entering or exiting college paid parking areas, even if the gate arms are raised or broken. If you fail to do so, your StarCard will be confiscated by the card reader!

  • TAKE CARE OF YOUR STARCARD! Lost, stolen or damaged StarCards are subject to a replacement fee of $15.

  • Remember! You can add monetary value to your StarCard by using a personal check at the Parking and ID Services, Room 215.1 during our current office hours.
