NOTES:
1. This transfer guide represents an Articulation (partnership) Agreement
between Lansing Community College (LCC) and Kettering University that
facilitates the transfer of LCC students to Kettering. This articulated
agreement expires Spring 2014.
2. The Co-Op Management Program leads to a BS in Management. Designed for four
and one half years, it may vary.
3. Admission requirements to Kettering University -
a. Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA in all LCC courses; an overall 3.0 GPA in
required science, math, and English; and a minimum 2.5 GPA in each
category. Grades below 2.0 do not transfer to Kettering University.
b. Demonstrated ability to carry a full-time load of courses. For at least
one semester prior to transfer students must maintain a minimum full-time
load of four courses with a 3.0 GPA to include at least one of each trans-
ferable science, math and general education courses.
c. Students may apply to Kettering University early in the program. A high
school transcript is required of students who have earned less than 30
semester credits. Students completing all of the courses listed within
five years of beginning at LCC will be accepted with Sophomore II
standing.
4. Co-Op Work Experience - At Kettering University all students participate in
paid professional cooperative education work experiences. Students alternate
terms of full-time study with terms of full-time co-op employment.
Transfer students who enroll with Junior I or higher status must complete a
minimum of three (3) co-op terms plus two thesis terms. Transfer students
who enroll with Sophomore I status must complete a minimum of four (4) co-op
terms, three of them after attaining Junior status, plus two thesis terms.
Transfer students entering at less than Sophomore status must complete five
(5) co-op terms, three of them after attaining Junior status plus two thesis
terms. Work experiences gained prior to transfer that may be suitable as
co-op can be evaluated by the Kettering University Cooperative Education
Office. While Kettering does not award academic credit for co-op experiences,
prior experiences may reduce the number of co-op terms required for gradua-
tion.
5. Students may request a co-op while attending LCC. For information, contact
LCC's co-op coordinator who will work with the Kettering University Coopera-
tive Education Staff to identify and recruit companies for participation in
the co-op program. These companies may be existing LCC or Kettering
University affiliates, or may be unaffiliated companies. Co-op placement
must be agreed upon by the company, student, LCC, and Kettering University.
To provide potential co-op employers with evidence of post-secondary
academic abilities, students must complete 15 semester credits full-time
academic study or 30 semester credits part-time prior to beginning the LCC
co-op.
Co-op work experience options while attending LCC:
a. Full-time co-op assignment of 40 hours/week for a minimum of 10 weeks =
400 hours (usually the summer between the freshman and sophomore years).
b. Part-time work assignment for a total of 400 hours.
6. Students may substitute WRIT 121 with WRIT 131, or ENGL/WRIT 122/132.
7. Select 4 credits in a transferable foreign language.
8. Select 4 credits from: BIOL 121,127; CHEM 125,151; PHYS 251.
9. To fulfill the sociology requirement, select four credits from: ANTH 270;
GEOG 200; HUMS 213,214; POLS 260,270; SOCL 120,255.
10. Students who complete the coursework on this transfer guide may be eligible
to receive an LCC Associate Degree. Please contact Academic Advising Center
for additional information. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must
fulfill specific graduation requirements. See the LCC catalog online at
http://www.lcc.edu/catalog for details.
11. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing. To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior to
registration. For testing hours call (517) 267-5500.
