NOTES:
1. This transfer guide supports a 3+1 Articulation (partnership) Agreement
between Lansing Community College (LCC) and Eastern Michigan University (EMU),
facilitating a smooth transition for students who choose to earn the LCC AAS
in Nursing and transfer to EMU to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Students are encouraged to contact the BSN Completion Option Coordinator
(contact information below) early, before apply to EMU. To facilitate the
evaluation of transfer credits, students should include a copy of this
transfer guide, as well as the EMU version of the articulation agreement
available online at http://emich.edu/ccr/artguide_new.php. Transfer students
must also bring a copy of the articulation agreement with them to any meetings
with EMU academic advisors. The current agreement is in effect until 8/31/13.
2. EMU honors the MACRAO Transfer Agreement. Students whose transcripts are
endorsed as "MACRAO Satisfied" will only be required to meet three of EMU's
general education requirements. These requirements may be completed at the
most appropriate time for the student, whether before or after enrollment at
Eastern Michigan University:
a. an approved course in Quantitative Reasoning: [MATH 121/130 at LCC]
b. an approved course in Perspectives on a Diverse World: [PHIL 211/212]
c. an approved Learning Beyond the Classroom course/experience offered at EMU.
To use MACRAO, students should request a MACRAO evaluation of their transcript
from the LCC Academic Advising Center. Students who do not satisfy MACRAO
will have to satisfy the EMU General Education Requirements.
3. Only courses with a grade of 2.0 or better will be accepted for transfer to
EMU. A course completed with a grade of less than 2.0, even through it may
count toward graduation at LCC and used to satisfy MACRAO, will not transfer
and will have to be repeated if it is a requirement of the Nursing Completion
Program at EMU.
5. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 in required for admission to EMU. Students
must meet all admission requirements at the time of application for admission
to EMU, including submitting transcripts from all previously attended
colleges. LCC students will receive equal consideration with other students
for course registration and financial aid.
6. Admission to the School of Nursing requires a separate application process.
Students should request an application for the School of Nursing, 311
Marshall Building, as soon as they decide to transfer. The application will
specify exact requirements, deadline dates and expected notification times.
Students must comply with the program requirements in effect at the time of
admission to the program.
7. Courses designated by this note are not required for the LCC Program but must
be included on the community college transcript to satisfy the MACRAO
Transfer Agreement. ENGL/WRIT 132 may be substituted for ENGL/WRIT 122.
8. Select one additional Humanities course from the MACRAO Transfer Agreement
options to meet this requirement.
9. Students seeking an LCC associate degree must fulfill additional requirements.
See the LCC online catalog for details.
10. This transfer guide requires basic skill levels in mathematics, reading, and
writing. To determine accurate course placement, students should take the
Computerized Placement Tests in the LCC Assessment Center (GB 200) prior
to registration. For testing hours, call (517) 267-5500.
For further information and advising, students should contact LCC Nursing Program
staff: Susan Bowling at (517) 483-1190 or bowlings@lcc.edu; Bobbi Towne, EMU BSN
Completion Option Coordinator at (734) 487-3277 or rtowne1@emich.edu; or Pat
Cygnar, Director for Community College Relations, at (734) 487-6577 or
