Mission and Vision

MISSION: The Centre for Engaged Inclusion engages the campus and Lansing area in building an equitable and inclusive community through intellectual exploration and collaboration.

VISION: We envision a community where everyone has a sense of belonging and possibility, and is empowered to cultivate an equitable world.

Centre for Engaged Inclusion (GB 2204)

The TED-Ed Hour is a weekly forum to openly discuss diverse, engaging ideas presented by national and international experts. The TED-Ed Hour will consist of topical discussions following the viewing of a TED or TEDx Talk. The TED-Ed Hour occurs on Mondays at 11:00am.

Centre for Engaged Inclusion (GB 2204)

The Centre for Engaged Inclusion will host a College Hour once a week on Tuesday and Wednesday from 11:00am-12:00pm. The College Hour is designed to foster meaningful connections between students, faculty, and staff through shared experiences. Various activities, workshops, and interactive experiences will take place during the Centre’s College Hour.

Soup and Substance luncheon is a once-a-month series, beginning in January and Ending in April, during which faculty, staff, and students gather in an informal setting for a presentation, discussion, and free soup. Participants must be registered to attend the event.

The Soup and Substance luncheons take place from 12:00-1:00pm in the Centre for Engaged Inclusion. Each Presentation is 30-minutes in length followed by a guided discussion facilitated by the presenter.

Broken on All Sides: Race, Mass Incarceration, and New Visions for Criminal Justices

Documentary Thursdays are scheduled once a month to highlight a given topic through film.
The documentaries will be screened in the Centre for Engaged Inclusion and a film guide will be provided to follow along with the stories being told, which will also include information about local organizations that are related to the topic being covered in the documentary.

Pecha Kucha: Stories of Diversity
2pm - 4pm
Centre for Engaged Inclusion (GB 2204)

Pecha Kucha: Stories of Diversity will host several speakers that will give an engaging Pecha Kucha style presentation. The Pecha Kucha presentation style was created in Japan in 2003 as a way for individuals to share stories and perspectives about their passions, interests, and creative pursuits. The Centre for Engaged Inclusion is adopting the presentation style, which consists of 20 slides each advancing after 20 seconds. The result is a presentation that lasts 6 minutes and 40 seconds. Each presentation will focus on one area of diversity and inclusion and be given a faculty, staff, or student that is connected to the campus.

Building Bridges: Student Success Conference

Lansing Community College

The Building Bridges Student Success Conference serves as a networking conference for students from community colleges and universities. Through collaborations between partners around Michigan, Relevant topics are presented and discussed with the intention of preparing undergraduate students to positively impact their campuses and communities as students and future professionals. The conference aims to attract students seeking to discover their place on campus as well as involved students at different stages of their collegiate journey.

*Students must be registered to attend. Registration will open February 1st.
